Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join our team as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for performing electrical circuit design, component selection, circuit analysis, and testing of BorgWarner power electronics products. This position will ensure that BorgWarner's power electronics products are properly designed and validated to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical design, simulation, and analysis of power electronics circuits and systems to meet technical product requirements.
  • Conduct electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs.
  • Specify, identify, select, and test key, critical electrical components.
  • Create the design and layout of circuit boards, substrates, and electrical interconnects/bus structures.
  • Develop an optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solution utilizing balanced requirements to meet schedule, technical, and cost constraints.
  • Work with BorgWarner systems engineers and program teams to ensure the proper allocation of requirements and to perform the verification of those requirements allocated to the electrical competency.
  • Support BorgWarner product development teams with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations.
  • Understand vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics subsystem and support systems engineering and application engineering to investigate vehicle systems issues.
  • Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, and verification of power electronics products.
  • Support best techniques and procedures and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures.
  • Document and share best practices.
Requirements
  • BS Electrical Engineering required.
  • 10 years' experience required in some combination of the following areas or an engineering internship in a related field: Automotive electronics product development.
  • Power Electronics circuits design, specifically motor drive inverters.
  • Modelling, simulating, and testing of power electronics.
  • Familiar with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of designing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Engineering internship experience in a manufacturing/engineering industry preferred.
  • Understanding of engineering theories related to designated engineering function and applies those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations.
  • Willingness/ability to travel 5% both domestically and internationally.
