- Power BI Development: Expertise in crafting Power BI solutions, including effective data modeling, establishing relationships among diverse data sources, and designing engaging and interactive dashboards and reports.
- Data Analysis and Visualization: Strong analytical capabilities to comprehend intricate business needs and convert them into insightful visual representations. Proficient in identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies in data and articulating them clearly.
- Data Integration: Experience in consolidating data from multiple sources such as databases, spreadsheets, and APIs into Power BI. Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools to maintain data integrity and consistency.
- SQL and Database Proficiency: Skilled in SQL for data querying and manipulation, with a solid understanding of database principles and experience with relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Data Modeling: Capability to design and implement effective data models in Power BI, including the creation of calculated columns, measures, and hierarchies. Familiarity with best practices for data modeling to enhance performance and usability.
- Power Query and DAX: Knowledge of Power Query for data transformation and cleansing, along with proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for developing complex calculations and measures in Power BI.
- Data Governance and Security: Understanding of data governance principles and experience in applying security measures to safeguard sensitive information in Power BI. Knowledge of role-based access control and row-level security.
- Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with business stakeholders, gather requirements, and present insights and recommendations. Ability to work collaboratively with other IT teams for data integration and infrastructure needs.
- Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve technical challenges related to Power BI development, data integration, and performance optimization. Competence in debugging and troubleshooting data-related issues.
- Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying informed about the latest Power BI features, updates, and best practices. Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools within the Power BI ecosystem.
Secondary Technical Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience in the insurance domain.
- Exposure to other Microsoft BI tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) is advantageous.
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to engage with client stakeholders effectively.
