Job Summary

The Lead Data Modeler will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance, scalable enterprise data models on cloud platforms. This role requires strong SQL skills, excellent data modeling skills, and experience with the Kimball methodology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement enterprise data models that meet business needs
  • Design and build comprehensive Kimball-compliant data models in the Analytic layer of the data warehouse
  • Design and build 3rd normal form compliant data models in the hub layer of the data warehouse
  • Translate tactical and strategic requirements into effective solutions
  • Participate in complex initiatives and provide consultation
  • Review specifications and coach team members to ensure consistency in approach and use
  • Research improvements in coding standards and participate in code reviews
  • Refactor code to improve testability and maintainability
  • Perform detailed technical design, development, and unit testing of custom applications and data flows
  • Deliver high-quality code for features and bug fixes
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL and query optimization, working on RDBMS and data warehouses
  • Experience modeling data into star schemas using the Kimball methodology
  • Experience modeling data into 3rd normal form
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with CICD frameworks and common DevOps practices
  • Experience working in an onsite-offshore model
  • Awareness of metadata, data quality, and governance needs of data and analytics platforms
  • Soft Skills: Leadership, analytical, engineering, problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a broad group of team members with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to take decisions and articulate back to leadership and business teams
  • Ability to guide team members through complex problems or deliverables
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical area
  • 5+ years of work experience in data modeling
  • 3+ years' experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global cloud-based systems on AWS and GCP
  • Experience with graph databases
  • Experience in data identification, ingestion, transformation, and consumption
  • Programming language skills (Python, NodeJs, Unix Scripting)
  • Experience with GCP Cloud Ecosystem (Big Query, DataFlow, Airflow, Cloud Storage and equivalent tools on other Cloud solutions)
  • Experience in all aspects of software engineering (define, architect, build, test, and deploy)
