Materials Scientist

Job Overview

ZF is a global technology company supplying systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial technology. As an Materials Engineer, you will work with a wide range of materials and electronic assembly technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering and consultancy services on materials and related production processes.
• Use various materials lab analytical and testing techniques to support routine and complex customer requests.
• Precise sectioning and metallographic preparation, specializing in difficult samples such as solder joints, printed circuit boards, and small components.
• Advise appropriate investigative processes for the evaluation of failures, interpretation of results, reporting findings, and to implement corrective actions.
• Generate detailed lab testing reports and attend customer meetings as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Experience in test or quality organization. Engineering experience in automotive electronics components preferred.
• Knowledge of electronic assembly of PCBs and electronic materials.
• Knowledge of metals (casting, forging, sheet steel, welding) and polymer materials.
• Practical experience of metallographic techniques.
• Practical experience using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and other non-destructive analytical techniques: X-ray, FTIR, etc.
• Ability to manage / lead multiple projects and priorities.
• Business fluent English language skills (written and spoken).
