We are seeking a highly skilled Android Software Engineering Manager to join our team at Capital One. As a key member of our mobile platform team, you will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality Android applications that deliver on our product strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of software engineers, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality applications.
- Application Development: Develop and maintain Android client code solutions that adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines, and principles.
- Collaboration: Partner with software engineers, UX/UI designers, quality engineers, product owners/analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-performing, quality customer experiences.
- Agile Ceremonies: Actively participate in all team agile ceremonies, ensuring that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality.
- Community Engagement: Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through internal and external developer communities.
- Professional Development: Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development, including Kotlin, Swift, and 3rd-party libraries.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers.
- Leadership: Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects.
- Process Improvement: Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across sprint teams.
- Problem-Solving: Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions.
- Code Review: Review pull requests and ensure adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms.
- Leadership Growth: Grow and provide SME-level leadership while managing other mobile developers.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience: At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years of experience building Android applications and 3 years of experience with Kotlin.
- Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Additional Experience: 5+ years of experience building Android applications, 5+ years of people management experience, 4+ years of experience with Kotlin, and 4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks.
- Agile Experience: 2+ years of experience with Agile practices.
