About This Role

We're seeking a skilled Compliance Manager to join our team at American Express, where you'll play a critical role in driving continuous product innovation for our international insurance business. As a key member of the Line of Business Compliance (LOBCO) team, you'll provide strategic support to our AXP insurance business outside the United States, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations for insurance products, services, and channels.

As a Compliance Manager, you'll be responsible for providing solution-oriented insurance compliance support for Fee (Premium) and NAC product benefits, assisting business colleagues in reaching their goals while meeting compliance requirements. You'll also support initiatives through New Product Approval (NPA) enterprise-wide processes, develop strong working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders, and manage an effective Compliance program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide insurance compliance support for product benefits and assist business colleagues in meeting compliance requirements.
  • Support initiatives through New Product Approval (NPA) enterprise-wide processes, including AEMP 54 and IISTAR.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage an effective Compliance program, including overseeing Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA), Regulatory Change Management (RCM), and issue management processes.
  • Assist internal stakeholders with specific insurance regulatory issues.
  • Drive implementation of policy and regulatory requirements related to relevant insurance distribution.

Requirements

  • Compliance or Risk expertise is required, preferably with a specific understanding of insurance and relevant regulatory considerations.
  • Insurance experience in either an insurer or intermediary would be advantageous.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the development and selection of compliant solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and support multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt easily to frequent change.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to persuade and influence.
