**Engineering Director**

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to join our team at Canonical. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a distributed team of engineers and driving the development of our machine learning and analytics portfolio.

• Team Leadership: Manage a team of engineers and provide guidance on technical direction and strategy.
• Process Optimization: Organize and lead the team's processes to achieve its objectives and improve overall efficiency.
• Code Review: Conduct regular code reviews to ensure high-quality code and adherence to best practices.
• Community Engagement: Interact with our vibrant community and represent Canonical at conferences and events.
• Mentorship: Mentor and grow your direct reports, helping them achieve their professional goals.
• Travel: Travel globally for internal and external events, with a minimum of 2-4 weeks per year.

• Professional Experience: A proven track record of professional experience in software delivery.
• Technical Skills: Professional Python development experience, preferably with a track record in open source. A proven understanding of the machine learning space, its challenges, and opportunities to improve.
• Leadership Skills: Experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions, and a proven track record of building highly automated machine learning solutions for the cloud.
• Education: An exceptional academic track record from both high school and preferably university.

The following skills may be helpful to you in the role:

• Machine Learning Libraries: Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools.
• Cloud Computing: Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Open Source Contributions: Demonstrated track record of Open Source contributions.
