Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled professional to fulfill the role of

Traded Risk Analyst

Objective:

Deliver comprehensive market risk oversight stemming from trading operations within HSBC's US divisions, with an emphasis on capital markets. This position entails the evaluation, management, and reporting of risks that the institution encounters.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather and assess risk data for limit management and daily risk monitoring/reporting. Evaluate risk exposures against established limits. Assess risk exposures and effectively relay the primary risk drivers to business units and senior leadership. Investigate and address inquiries related to risk metrics from Market Risk Managers, Front Office, and Senior Leadership. Engage in the design and validation of risk assessment tools to ensure comprehensive capture of all risk categories such as PVBP, VaR, CS01, EAD, etc., and comprehend their significance in RWA calculations. Oversee and track limits, ensuring prompt escalation, reporting, and investigation of any limit breaches. Guarantee that data utilized for risk evaluation and computation is accurately captured, processed, and reported. Contribute to the development of exemplary standards and practices, striving for ongoing enhancements in daily operations. Collaborate with local teams within the broader Traded Risk Process & Analysis group to ensure all tasks are executed accurately and promptly. Ensure adherence to all procedures and best practices outlined by Traded Risk Process & Analysis, documenting them in a timely manner. Accountable for the effective management of risk control activities to minimize exceptions, discrepancies, breaches, and manual interventions. Ensure compliance with operational risk controls in line with HSBC and regulatory standards, fostering positive relationships with regulators by addressing any concerns. Promote a workplace culture that embraces diversity and reflects the values of HSBC.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a risk-related role at a prominent financial institution, ideally with a focus on market risk. Strong grasp of vanilla and structured financial products traded in capital markets. Exceptional communication abilities, capable of articulating complex topics clearly and intuitively. Solid understanding of capital markets and the essential market risk metrics and methodologies employed to evaluate risk. Robust analytical skills with the capability to apply quantitative methods for trend analysis, identify risk anomalies, and resolve practical challenges. Team-oriented, proactive, and self-driven, with the ability to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision. Proficient in managing a diverse range of long-term projects and immediate tasks. Comfortable with understanding and learning to utilize various risk management systems. Familiarity with databases and programming languages such as SAS, MATLAB, Access, R, Python is advantageous, though not essential.
