About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Specialist to join our Finance team in Mexico. As a key member of our global financial fintech, you will play a critical role in preparing and submitting all administrative tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with tax compliance teams for direct and indirect tax, as well as external advisors.
  • Develop automated calculations and tax filings for direct tax and indirect tax projects.
  • Extract and utilize data to support the preparation and submission of local tax returns.
  • Assist with transfer pricing, tax optimization, and direct and indirect tax projects.
  • Support the team with data-driven tax forecasting and cash tax processes.
  • Help optimize tax spend globally.
  • Prepare local tax disclosures for statutory accounts.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of post-qualified accounting experience in finance functions, preferably within a financial service company with cross-functional and multinational teams.
  • Expertise in corporation tax accounting, including ledger postings, reconciliation to tax returns, and TP allocation (preferably in Mexico, but experience in LATAM will be considered).
  • An accounting degree or CPA-equivalent.
  • The ability to extract and validate information from IT systems and build evidence-based tax audit trails, aligned to tax rules.
  • Knowledge of month-end tax accounting process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with highly experienced business and tax professionals in a start-up atmosphere.
  • A self-starter attitude with impressive problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • To work independently with a high level of initiative and judgment.
  • A flexible mindset and willingness to embrace change.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in banking, regulated financial entity, and/or start-up.
  • Data analytics skills or experience with SQL, for example.
  • Experience with VAT tax accounting.
