Our Optical Communications division has transitioned from merely producing optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to becoming a comprehensive provider of top-tier optical solutions across the wider communications landscape. This division is categorized into two primary product groups – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network group mainly comprises products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure supporting services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network group primarily includes optical-based communication networks marketed to businesses, government entities, and individuals for personal use.
Position Purpose:
To investigate and evaluate polymeric materials and components utilized in the creation of telecommunications products. The role involves addressing a variety of challenges where data analysis necessitates the assessment of identifiable factors. The individual will exercise discretion within generally defined practices and policies when selecting methods and techniques for deriving solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and testing on polymeric materials and components, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards for telecommunications product development.
- Analyze and interpret data from testing outcomes and research studies, pinpointing critical factors that will affect the production process.
- Devise and implement innovative strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of polymer processing operations.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations regarding the usage and management of polymeric materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
- Document and report on research findings, testing outcomes, and process enhancements.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in polymer science and integrate them into the production process where relevant.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Certifications or relevant coursework in areas such as Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Physics, Polymer Extrusion processes, thermodynamics, etc.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Work Experience:
- Over 5 years of technical experience in a manufacturing or research environment related to polymer science, material science, or chemical engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis and problem-solving related to polymeric materials and applications.
- Preferred: Experience in process engineering, particularly concerning the production and development of telecommunications products.
