About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity to join the HSBC team as a Trade and Position Management Team Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting middle office activities as the primary liaison with internal and external clients.

The role involves managing primary objectives of driving operational excellence across the business globally. This includes achieving process consolidation, simplification, and continuous improvement, while taking responsibility for managing operational, location, and processing risk.

The Trade Control Senior Manager will support the Sector, Program Trading, and Sales desks for the Cash Equities business. The role holder will cover day-to-day management responsibilities of the client services team, including allocation of block trades and affiliate trading reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act on escalated communications with clients for Equity trades
  • Act on any escalation to management or trading desk to protect the firm against risk exposure
  • Study process gaps and recommend updates to operational lines as necessary
  • Deliver support for effective management of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to minimize risk, e.g., Nostro/Stock/inter-system breaks
  • Strategize and develop sustainable operational models with department heads
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record and experience in people management. They should have a sound understanding and formal qualification of basic Operations Accounting principles.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate the mindset and maturity to operate in a fast-paced environment, with awareness and appreciation of operations risk and control and exception management.

They should also have strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients/stakeholders, and attention to detail with a hands-on approach to identify opportunities for process improvement.

The candidate should be able to follow formal escalation frameworks across all aspects of Operations, including operational and systemic-related risks.

Desirable Skills

The following skills are desirable:

  • 3-5 years of investment banking experience
  • A degree in Business or Finance
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple stakeholders
  • Able to work in a demanding and time-sensitive environment
  • Hands-on experience of operations processing
  • Familiar working knowledge of associated technology
