Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Claims Manager to lead our Complex Claims Team at American International Group. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving best practice claims handling performance and technical development of your team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the allocation of complex claims within the team, ensuring optimal claims outcomes and customer service.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, and manage their performance to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Keep the Senior Manager informed of key loss developments and trends within the Complex team.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to improve claims handling performance and efficiency.
  • Embed best practice claims handling within the team, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Drive performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
  • Ensure accurate and timely assessment and reserving of complex claims, meeting agreed service levels.
  • Develop and implement a balanced scorecard to measure team performance and progress.

  • Ability to deliver strategic directives and market claims expertise externally.
  • Broad range of leadership competencies, including direction, pace setting, coaching, and effective listening.
  • Identify and address performance issues within the team.
Technical Skills and Expertise
  • Fully developed specialist knowledge in auto technical claims topics.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, both internal and external.
  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
  • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) skills.
  • Experience in conducting technical claims audits and following up on findings.
