Marine Underwriter

Job Summary

AIG is seeking a highly skilled Marine Underwriter to join our team. As a Marine Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing, quoting, and negotiating Marine business while complying with company guidelines, risk appetite, and internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development

• Analyze and quote new business submissions with premium over $15,000 USD.
• Negotiate and close deals while ensuring compliance with company guidelines.

• Administrate and renew existing portfolio by collecting and analyzing data from claims, actuarial, multinational, and distribution divisions.

• Provide timely responses to brokers and agents consistent with SLA's.

• Interact with other AIG areas to collect or provide information such as claims, distribution, actuary, and finance.

• Attend external meetings with brokers and insureds to reinforce business line strategy, strengthen relations, and increase new business opportunities.

• Filing as per required for all renewal and new accounts.

• Participate in different activities and cooperate with necessary information to prepare reports and monitoring of results, limits profile, portfolio review, KPI's, and any other information required.

Requirements

• Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, administration, international relations, international trade, engineering, actuary, or similar.
• Technical Skills
  • Intermediate or advanced level of Excel.
• Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in middle market underwriting or knowledge of marine cargo terms and conditions.
  • Proven experience in handling problems with agents, brokers, and clients.
• Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good presentation skills and file knowledge.
  • Time management ability to manage and prioritize workload and diary management.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment and with internal/external clients.
