**Engineering Manager, Ubuntu Server: Lead Software Development and Innovation**

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Ubuntu Server team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the success of our software development efforts and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a globally distributed team of engineers to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Develop and implement talent management strategies to grow and retain top engineering talent.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define the vision and strategy for Ubuntu Server and drive product excellence.
  • Effectively manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern software development practices and drive adoption across the organization.
  • Develop and evangelize best engineering and organizational practices to drive technical growth and collaboration.
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with our company values.
  • Participate in strong engineering processes through code and architectural review.
  • Engage with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and commercial partners to drive innovation and growth.
  • Oversee the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family and plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers with a strong track record of developing and growing people.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development with a focus on success and delivery of timely, high-quality software.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment with a strong understanding of modern software development practices.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English with experience working with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
  • Practical experience with at least one of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services.
