About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Data Analyst contractor with a strong background in scripting and data visualization to join our team at Advancio. The ideal candidate will have experience in advanced reporting and low-level scripting and automation design & development.

The successful candidate will have proficiency in PowerBI, Alteryx, advanced Excel, and programming languages such as Python, DAX, or R. A good understanding of product data, business acumen, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry knowledge is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Modeling and Visualization: Design and develop data models, reports, and dashboards in Power BI that are visually appealing and easy to understand. Create interactive reports that provide meaningful insights and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • Data Integration: Connect Power BI to various data sources, such as SQL databases, Excel files, cloud services, and other third-party applications. Ensure data is correctly integrated, transformed, and optimized for analysis.
  • ETL Processes: Develop Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using Power Query, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), or other tools to prepare and cleanse data for reporting. Optimize data flows to ensure efficient data processing and performance.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize reports and dashboards for performance, ensuring they load quickly and efficiently handle large volumes of data. This may involve refining data models, reducing data load times, and improving query performance.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders, including data analysts, project managers, and decision-makers, to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into effective Power BI solutions.
  • Advanced DAX Calculations: Write complex DAX formulas to create custom calculations, measures, and KPIs. Use DAX to implement business logic and enhance report functionality.
  • Security Implementation: Implement security measures, such as row-level security, to restrict access to sensitive data based on user roles and permissions.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support for Power BI reports and dashboards, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing performance as needed. Assist users with ad-hoc reporting needs and answer queries related to Power BI.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for Power BI solutions, including design specifications, data models, DAX calculations, and user guides to ensure clear communication and ease of maintenance.
  • Training and Mentoring: Provide training and guidance to junior developers and end-users on best practices for using Power BI. Mentor team members to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Staying Updated with Power BI Features: Keep up-to-date with the latest Power BI features, updates, and best practices to continuously improve reporting capabilities and implement new functionalities.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of reports and dashboards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data presented to the users.
