Purchasing Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary

Lead and administrate the Purchasing Staff within the Workcell, supporting the development and implementation of Supply Chain strategies and systems. Ensure that materials supply equal demand and optimize overall cost of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Recruit and interview Purchasing Staff, communicate criteria to recruiters, and monitor team member turnover.
    • Identify individual and team strengths and development needs, create training curriculum, and coach and mentor Materials staff.
    • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives, solicit feedback, and provide ongoing coaching and counseling.
    • Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of organizational goals.
  • Functional Management
    • Know and understand the campus strategic directions, define and develop a Materials strategy, and provide regular updates to BUM, WCM, and Materials Manager.
    • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems, utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, and provide feedback to peers.
  • Forecast Development and Accuracy
    • Prepare timely forecasts for the department, compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.
  • Technical Management
    • Provide feedback and support development of Jabil Supply Chain initiatives and strategies, ensure Workcell's execution to Jabil Supply Chain strategies, and support customer's business needs.
    • Monitor and ensure materials supply meet the MRP requirements to support production, identify and support resolve disconnects, and ensure that the Workcell is focused to drive down the overall cost of materials.
    • Lead the price administration process to ensure data integrity, accurate Standard Costs, and Quoted Costs to the Customer that are competitive and maximize the amount of favorable Materials Price Variance (MPV).
