Job Overview

Candidates with a strong background in electrical and automation engineering are sought to join CEMEX as Automation Project Engineers. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with CEMEX automation engineering guidelines, design criteria, specifications, and standards during the development and execution of electrical and automation engineering projects.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Project Coordination: Coordinate, supervise, and manage the development and delivery of automation engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to master schedules.
  2. Electrical Concepts Management: Manage the purchase of electrical concepts for projects and participate in project startup, stabilization, and formal closure, collaborating with other disciplines project teams.
  3. Automation Engineering: Participate in projects and studies through the preliminary execution of proposals for automation-related equipment sizing and selection, including PLC/IO hardware and SCADA-related equipment.
  4. Project Support: Support the projects construction team during project execution, startup, and commissioning stages, providing immediate and effective solutions to ensure cost, quality, and execution time.
  5. Technology Evaluation: Participate in the evaluation of global Electrical & Automation installation technologies and equipment suppliers to maintain CEMEX standards.
Position Challenges
  1. Collaboration: Coordinate with multidisciplinary, multifunctional, and multicultural engineers and engineering companies during project development.
  2. Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with CEMEX automation engineering design criteria, specifications, and standards.
  3. Project Lifecycle: Participate in all stages of the project, from engineering to purchases and startup.
  4. Design Criteria Sharing: Share conceptual design criteria and equipment involved with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in a relevant field, preferably in Automatic Control or a related field, or sufficient proven experience in PLC/HMI selection and programming.

Area of Study: Administration, Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering.

Knowledge Requirements

  1. Automation Equipment Selection: Knowledge of automation equipment selection, control, and instrumentation engineering revision.
  2. Cement and Concrete Production: Knowledge of cement and concrete production, preferably.
  3. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in PC programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.
  4. Specific Knowledge: CAD, AutoCad general knowledge, PLC programming software knowledge (like Schneider Unity, AB Studio 5000, Siemens TIA portal/Step7).
  5. SCADA Programming: SCADA programming software knowledge (like Schneider Vijeo Citect, Hybrid DCS, FLSA ECS, AB Factory Talk, Emerson Delta V).
  6. Field HMI Programming: Field HMI programming development knowledge (Schneider Magellis Vijeo Designer, AB Panel View Fact Talk, Siemens WinCC/TIA, etc.).

Language: Spanish native desirable, English 90%.

Experience: 1 year experience in cement and/or mining-related projects/equipment/commissioning experience. 3 years experience in Automation Engineering projects (engineering firms, equipment selection-specifications, process control system PLC and/or SCADA programming).

General Knowledge: General knowledge of cement, ready-mix, and aggregate industry-related equipment and installations. General knowledge of engineering and projects process development.

Travel and Relocation: Willingness to travel and relocate.

Internal and External Relations

Internal: Operations and Technical Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Projects Procurement EHS.

External: Suppliers, Government, Other process entities.
