About the Opportunity

Avantor is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Assistant to join our team in Xalostoc. This is an onsite opportunity with the potential to transition to a hybrid role. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices.
  • Receive, process, and reconcile statements.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for management.
  • Generate and review monthly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or a similar position.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish with at least 60% English fluency.
What We're Looking For
  • Responsibility for tracking and journaling holding company activity in APM general ledger.
  • Registration and maintenance of accounting entries records on the company system.
  • Maintenance of the chart of accounts.
  • Registration and processing of payroll entries and reporting.
  • Registration and balancing of petty cash.
  • Adherence to safety rules for proper implementation.
  • Assistance in month-end and year-end closing; preparation of necessary journal entries and accruals.
  • Monthly and quarterly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to the general ledger.
  • Performance of inter-company accounting and reconciliations.
  • Performance of regular month-end closing activities and consolidation activities for Mexico Finance.
  • Preparation of ad hoc financial reports upon request with MS Excel analysis.
  • Ensuring accuracy and consistency in reporting of data.
  • Audit support.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mexico Fiscal (ISR, IVA, IETU, CFF) experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English at least 60%).
  • Basic knowledge in Mexico legislation.
  • Microsoft Excel (Intermediate), able to work pivot tables.
  • Able to work with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Knowledge of parent and subsidiary accounting.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that may weigh up to 15 lbs.
