A Day in the Life of a Steam Turbine Maintenance Specialist

The role of a Steam Turbine Maintenance Specialist involves providing maintenance services to Steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems in the field. This position requires extensive travel to power plant sites internationally, with a minimum of 80% travel time.

As a Steam Turbine Maintenance Specialist, you will lead and direct subcontractors to perform necessary tasks to maintain the equipment, ensuring quality and technical procedures are followed. You will also attend site meetings with customers and subcontractors to coordinate tasks and communicate status and lessons-learned to the back-office engineering and management team.

Responsibilities
  • Direct teams of field service engineers, technicians, and craft labor personnel in the de-stocking process
  • Coordinate and manage staffing of project teams at customer sites
  • Provide steam turbine knowledge and expertise to division management, customer management, product line management, and suppliers
  • Review and execute customer contract requirements
  • Prepare and forward accurate reports concerning the condition and repairs and recommendations for customer equipment
  • Ensure compliance with and enforcement of the protocols, policies, guidelines, and competencies of the current integral management system (EHS, Quality)
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum + years of experience with power plants or equivalent environment
  • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently, as well as working well in groups
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing work for yourself and others, under strict timelines and being flexible to changing needs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and ability to learn others as needed)
  • Flexibility and willingness for domestic and international travel (80%+)
