Position Overview

As a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, you will engage with a network of technical specialists dedicated to shaping the future of digital banking.

Your role will involve collaboration with a skilled team of developers, machine learning professionals, product managers, and leadership figures. Distinguished Engineers are recognized authorities in their fields, tasked with crafting practical and reusable solutions to intricate challenges. You will foster innovation at various levels, enhancing business results while steering towards robust technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate and advocate for a visionary technical direction within your domain.
  • Break down complex challenges into actionable and operational solutions.
  • Ensure the integrity of technical design and execution.
  • Serve as a leading authority on essential system characteristics, including performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Continuously enhance your knowledge and share advanced technical insights with our community.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, optimizing your time for maximum impact.
  • Act as a mentor and role model within the technical community, fostering the growth of technical skills and knowledge among engineering and product teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture.
  • At least 7 years of experience with mobile technologies and frameworks (iOS or Android).
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience coding in widely used programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, etc.
  • At least 10 years of experience throughout the entire system development lifecycle, from conception to architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with public or private cloud technologies.
  • 10+ years of experience in networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Cloud Networking, and Data Center Networking).
  • 5+ years of experience in developing distributed systems and highly available services utilizing cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • AWS Certifications.
