The Ice Cream R&D team in Latam is looking for a Product Development Technologist based in Mexico. This role is pivotal for the Ice Cream Category, driving significant innovations under renowned brands such as Magnum and Cornetto. The position reports to the R&D Ice Cream Manager in Mexico.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the complete product development cycle and identify opportunities within the ice cream category. Provide R&D leadership throughout all stages of innovation, 5S, and simplification processes. Lead formulation work streams, collaborating with Brand Development and cross-functional project teams to ensure that ingredients meet product specifications and are delivered timely and completely. Serve as the Technical Project Leader for assigned projects, responsible for the delivery of all R&D outputs and managing the program of R&D work stream leaders involved. Determine the ingredients necessary to achieve the desired product functionality and sensory attributes, ensuring stability throughout the product's shelf life. Deliver formulations that not only comply with quality and technical standards but also delight consumers and foster brand loyalty. Prepare technical specifications for all ingredients developed within a project. Influence the business case through ingredient selection and play a crucial role in promoting sustainable sourcing choices. Assist in defining and implementing cost-effective formulations. Understand how formulations can compete and be delivered in a dynamic consumer market on both global and regional scales, creatively identifying new product solutions tailored to specific markets. Conduct technical briefings with suppliers to explore new technologies. Adhere to the Unilever Code of Business Principles and all SHE and QA policies, including supporting product claims, risk management, and environmental awareness.QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS
Proficient knowledge of Technical Specifications & Supply Chain Support Projects – VIP, Resilience, Quality Program. Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and capability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds, personalities, and work styles. Adaptability in work style to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Intermediate to Advanced Level English proficiency (ability to write clear emails and reports in English and actively participate in English-speaking business meetings). Familiarity with Food or Ice Cream manufacturing processes is preferred. Strong evidence of SOL and relevant examples. Comprehensive Project Management skills. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in formulation R&D. Presence in Tultitlan Plant is required. University Degree in Chemical Engineering or Food Engineering.-
