What You'll Do
Stripe is initiating the establishment of Stripe Delivery Centers—a new global team dedicated to designing, implementing, and expanding Stripe's operations for the forthcoming decade. We seek dynamic individuals who are passionate about addressing global user challenges, developing operations, enhancing processes, and playing a pivotal role in establishing this new operational capability for Stripe while driving its growth.
In this position, you will oversee the recruitment, management, and development of a team of Credit Risk Operations Associates focused on preventing and resolving user challenges and optimizing our operational workflows. The Credit Risk Operations Manager will foster team engagement while guiding members to achieve their best through constructive feedback, coaching, mentoring, and advocacy within the organization. This entails setting team objectives and utilizing metrics to effectively measure and guide performance towards those objectives. A successful candidate will possess a strong operational mindset, agility in decision-making, and a passion for delivering an exceptional user experience.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, manage, coach, and develop a new team of in-office Credit Risk Operations Associates.
- Implement credit underwriting frameworks that enable your team to assess business models and financial statements of various entities.
- Drive effective operational delivery and process enhancements to maintain credit risk tolerance while balancing credit loss and customer satisfaction.
- Cultivate a positive team culture, ensuring team members are content, productive, and advancing in their careers.
- Establish clear objectives and direction, providing regular performance feedback to team members.
- Utilize data-driven analysis for performance evaluation and decision-making.
- Promote and embody our values, acting as a representative of Stripe's user-centric philosophy and culture of transparency, empathy, inclusion, and empowerment.

Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing credit risk and/or underwriting teams.
- Proficiency in commercial credit underwriting, financial risk modeling, and cash flow forecasting.
- Ability to synthesize business and financial data into a cohesive narrative that identifies potential credit risks and outlines effective mitigation strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed internal stakeholders.
- Strong operational background, including launching new processes and delivering services.
- Credibility and skill in performing the core functions of a user-facing team with a high standard for quality, along with a willingness to lead by example.
- Enthusiasm for process improvement and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in payments, e-commerce, or fintech sectors.
- Background in building and scaling new teams from the ground up.
- Experience in a high-growth technology environment.
In-Office Expectations
Employees assigned to offices in most locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of their time in the office or with users each month. This expectation may vary based on role, team, and location. For instance, some teams may have higher in-office attendance requirements to adequately support users and workflows, which will be discussed by the hiring manager. This approach balances the need for in-person collaboration and learning while supporting flexibility when feasible.
