System Architect for Advanced Safety and User Experience

This role is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment in Mexico, where we design, develop, and validate production products and technology to satisfy customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and validate new products and technology to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure system engineering process deliverables are completed on time and meet Aptiv quality standards.
  • Define system functions and allocate system elements to build functional architecture.
  • Identify and document product use cases and system functions in product requirement documents.
  • Specify product requirements based on use cases for all engineering competencies.
  • Follow Aptiv design standards, guidelines, best practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in requirement/design peer reviews for projects within the Advanced Safety and User Experience segment.
  • Ensure logical and systematic transformation of customer requirements into a total system solution that meets scheduling, technical, and cost constraints.
  • Perform technical planning, analyze and manage requirements, contribute to system architecture and design, and execute system integration tests.
  • Convert customer requirements into product system requirements.
  • Lead and/or perform technical design analysis, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations during the sourcing phase.
  • Develop innovative and creative solutions to unique engineering challenges by drawing upon technical talents, passion, creativity, and experience.
  • Drive cross-competency teams while reporting out to management and customers.
  • Take responsibility for capturing, clarifying, and prioritizing critical ambiguous tasks.
  • Drive process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize work efficiency at the team and organizational level.
  • Analyze and structure system capabilities with customer requests, target vehicle architecture, target cost, and required functionality.
  • Analyze vehicle architecture and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Create architecture strategies with customer requests, target vehicle architecture, target cost, and required functionality in mind.
  • Manage vehicle and vehicle subsystem for customer vehicle variants.
  • Allocate vehicle system requirements of any given product release to physical and logical architecture elements.
  • Responsible for architecture tool chain/process/method development.
  • Define logical and physical vehicle system architecture and actively drive integration of product, SW, HW, and ME by defining and aligning logical & physical interfaces.
  • Analyze and document system design alternatives.
  • Align architecture strategies with Project/Platform Owner.
  • Allocate system requirements of any given product release to physical and logical architecture elements in advance of scheduled feature development for that release with the support of the System Engineers/Function Owners.
  • Define system interfaces (internal and external).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (computer science, software, systems, computer or related field of study).
  • 5-8+ years professional experience in Automotive Industry, with background preferably in Electronic (Body Computer, Cluster, Compute and Zonal ECU) or Embedded software development.
  • Bi-lingual proficient in English speaking/reading/writing.
  • Proven record of taking customer requirements from design to production.
  • Familiarity with microprocessor/controller based hardware designs, System/Software Architectures for automotive designs, and network topology.
  • Experience with CAN, Ethernet, LVDS Communication.
  • Experience with embedded hardware and serial communication tools (CANoe, CANape, etc.).
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, Experience with Structured problem solving techniques like 3L5Y, Fault Trees, Fishbone diagrams, etc.
  • Familiarity with system/software development processes (Automotive SPICE) and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, etc.).
  • Functional Safety or Cybersecurity knowledge/background/experience.
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, and customers.
  • Self-motivated, well organized, flexible, works well with complex issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in team environment.
  • Excellent Communication and Leadership skills, bi-lingual speaking/reading/writing.
