Job Title: Infectious Disease Specialist Medical Doctor

Médicos Sin Fronteras en México A.C. is seeking a highly skilled Infectious Disease Specialist Medical Doctor to join our team in international humanitarian missions.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a medical professional with expertise in infectious diseases to work in our international humanitarian missions. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical care and support to patients affected by infectious diseases, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of our antibiotic stewardship program.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with our teams on site to identify existing problems and develop solutions
  • Establish antibiotic stewardship as a priority in projects with microbiology access
  • Rationalize the use of antibiotics by respecting MSF protocols
  • Train clinical doctors to optimize antibiotic prescriptions and develop training courses tailored to the specific needs of each project
  • Monitor side effects and antibiotic consumption in collaboration with the pharmacy
  • Establish an antibiotic committee comprising a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop a documentation system and participate in data collection
  • Audit practices and report; train national medical teams to carry out this activity
  • Collaborate with medical teams on site to discuss and define short and long-term priorities and objectives concerning the rational use of antibiotics
Requirements:
  • Medical degree with specialty in infectious diseases
  • Current registration to the medical council
  • 3 years of experience after diploma (internship included and counts as one year if in hospitals or clinics in vulnerable areas)
  • Experience in implementing an antibiotic stewardship program is an asset
  • Experience in HIV care is an asset
  • Experience in the management of tuberculosis is an asset
  • Experience in the management of tropical diseases is an asset
  • Teaching experience and skills transfer desired
  • Management experience is an asset
Language:

English as primary language (B1 or B2 level minimum)

Knowledge of French will be an asset

Position Conditions:

Work Venue: Where the needs of the project require it

Profits: Monthly remuneration: in the first 12 months, the bonus approximate gross monthly is USD $1,500. From the second year remuneration increases based on experience (previous and acquired) and the level of responsibility in the field. Private insurance coverage that includes medical coverage and hospital, temporary disability and life insurance. The organization also has an arranged medical evacuation if necessary. The expenses of stay in the land are covered: housing, basic services, cleaning and washing. Other expenses such as transportation, visas, transfer to the country of destination and Displacements in the field will also be covered by MSF. Per diem or monthly per diem: mainly to cover meals and small personal expenses.

Start: Depending on the needs of the project

Duration: Minimum 6 months

Working day: Full time
