Center Operations Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Center Operations Specialist. This role is responsible for maintaining a warm and welcoming environment for troops and assisting with the day-to-day activities of a USO Center during an assigned shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Meet, greet, and assist visiting guests, orienting them with center amenities, tours, classes, programs, and services, while providing quality customer service.
  2. Monitor and maintain the readiness, availability, and cleanliness of activity and lounge areas, including check-in areas, coffee/snack stations, computer stations, media/gaming rooms, kitchen/café areas, pavilions/patios, and outdoor areas, rest rooms, offices, and storage rooms.
  3. Ensure the operability of all facilities and equipment, including coffee makers, popcorn machines, telephones, computers, Wi-Fi accessibility, cash registers, gaming consoles, and other essential systems.
  4. Supervise volunteers during assigned shifts, ensuring quality customer service and support are provided in accordance with service delivery standards and USO policies, procedures, and core values.
  5. Process cash or credit card sales, balancing money and credit charges with cash register totals at the beginning and end of assigned shifts, and maintain customer profile records in the Daily Cash Receipts Log.
  6. Assist with programs and events as needed, and assume responsibility for center operations as directed by the Center Manager and/or Regional Leadership.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 0-3 years of work experience in retail, customer service, recreation facility, or related role, with relevant experience in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural, and/or global organization preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with general knowledge of the military community preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communications, as well as knowledge of various software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to speak, read, and write in the language of the host and neighboring countries preferred.
