Compliance and Litigation Counsel for LATAM

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Compliance and Litigation Counsel for LATAM, you will be responsible for providing primary compliance investigation support in the region. Additionally, you will have full responsibility for litigation management for Mexico and CAM and other countries in LATAM.

Litigation Management:

Prevent and strategically manage litigation against Clarios in all areas of law. Evaluate the convenience and repercussions of active litigations and explore alternatives whenever possible. Ensure proper visibility to the business and finance through periodic and ad-hoc reports. Select, negotiate, and manage outside counsel panels to ensure qualified, timely, and cost-effective specialized litigation counsel as needed. Coordinate, lead, and produce LATAM litigation reports in collaboration with internal and external legal teams.

LATAM Compliance Investigation Manager:

Conduct investigations regarding a full range of risks and allegation types, including bribery and corruption, various types of occupational fraud, theft, and financial misstatements. Provide advice, training, approvals, and engage in ethical solutions in Ethics and Compliance matters across LATAM.

Requirements:

  • Experienced (8-12 years) attorney qualified to practice in Colombia or Mexico.
  • Experience as in-house in multinational companies.
  • Experience in Compliance and minimum of 5 years' experience conducting investigations, including strong interview skills.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, Portuguese is a plus.
  • At least one professional designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CIA, CFA; CFE or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong financial, analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Accounting/finance experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team and matrixed environment.
  • Highly motivated professional, self-starter, and willing and able to travel within Latin America and globally.
  • Expected travel 30-50%.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Flexibility and positive attitude.
  • Ability to accept feedback and learn from every experience.
  • Search for continuous formal and informal learning.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a group, under pressure, and to demonstrate resourcefulness in problem-solving.
  • Ability to define litigation strategy, set up litigation files, maintain databases, and prepare status reports and supervise such from outside counsel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with proven ability to produce effective communications materials using superior writing, organization, and influencing skills, including a demonstrated ability to distill large amounts of research into concise, influential, and practical communications.
