Solvay is a leading science company that brings innovative solutions to various industries. We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team in Mexico. As a Tax Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all tax regulations in Mexico, including transfer pricing, withholding taxes, and reporting to our Country Accounting Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Declare and pay withholding VAT, income tax return, foreign tax, and payroll taxes monthly through the SAT portal.
  • Prepare and declare DIOT (Informative Declarations with third-party operations) into the SAT portal monthly.
  • Request VAT receivable into the SAT portal when applicable.
  • Respond to SAT requirements regarding VAT or ISR (Income tax return) or any other SAT-related requirements.
  • Respond to SAT requests related to tax stimuli every semester, twice a year, through the SAT portal.
  • Review daily tax mailboxes to identify notifications, vendor requests for invoice cancellation, or other notifications.
  • Cancellation of invoices on the SAT portal, maintaining control over all cancellations.
  • Issue invoices related to miscellaneous or foreign withholding tax into the SAT portal.
  • Keep a summary report of taxes for audit purposes, monthly.
  • Reconcile tax balances for VAT, ISR-related compensations, or offsetting taxes.
  • Review and declare municipal payroll tax in Mexico City, Chihuahua, and Jalisco.
  • Request tax registration in Curitiba monthly.
  • Reconcile tax accounts, such as payroll taxes, VAT, ISR deferred taxes, etc.
  • Obtain a positive tax letter opinion from the SAT portal to deliver to vendors, banks, or other parties.
  • Prepare annual income tax returns, including work papers to determine taxes and profit sharing.
  • Review the black list to avoid fines for simulated operations.
  • Clarify variances between vendor payments and official tax invoices.
  • Reconcile CFDI? S regarding sales invoices and payroll receipts vs. the SAT portal.
  • Contribute to finding strategies to save taxes at any time.
  • Support initiatives to save taxes or those requested by the corporate office.
  • Coordinate information needed for transfer pricing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience.
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
  • Strong accounting experience and high-level knowledge of local taxes and deferred taxes.
  • Ability to understand systems architecture and strong IT tools knowledge in SAP ERP, BFC, and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter with an achievement drive to identify, propose, and fulfill challenging targets.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in MNC environments and ability to interact with stakeholders from all levels across different cultures.
  • Strong tax expertise in local rules and prior experience with IFRS would be an added advantage.

Spanish, English

Traveling Requirement

25% domestic travel within Mexico and occasional travel out of Mexico for regional/global meetings.
