Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our team. As an SDET, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. Your expertise in test automation, software quality assurance, and programming languages will enable you to design and implement effective testing strategies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Test Planning and Automation
    • Collaborate with the development team to understand product requirements and design effective test plans.
    • Develop and maintain automated testing systems using programming languages such as TypeScript, Java, or Python.
    • Design and create testing procedures and strategies for new and existing software products.
  • Test Execution and Defect Management
    • Execute manual testing where necessary and identify, log, and track bugs to resolution.
    • Provide detailed information regarding issue reproduction and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
    • Report and document technical issues and solutions for the testing phase.
    • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure components meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Requirements

  • Programming Skills
    • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as TypeScript, Java, or Python.
  • Test Automation
    • Proficiency in using test automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, etc.
  • Visual Testing
    • Knowledge of visual testing packages such as Chromatic or Percy (BrowserStack).
  • QA Processes and Methodologies
    • Deep understanding of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) methodologies, tools, and processes, including Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Frontend Knowledge
    • Good understanding of Component Libraries and Single Page Application builds for verification of performance and accessibility.
  • API Testing
    • Experience with API testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, or other RESTful service testing tools.
  • Version Control Systems
    • Experience with version control systems like Git to track and manage code changes.
  • CI/CD Knowledge
    • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous delivery tool chains like Jenkins, Bamboo, or Travis CI.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, understand requirements, and provide clear bug reports or test case documentation.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify defects, understand functionality, and successfully troubleshoot issues.

Desired Qualifications

  • Component Library Experience
    • Experience building and maintaining a component library.
  • Web Component Expertise
    • Expertise in web components with hands-on development using StencilJS (preferred) or lit.
  • Programming Language Proficiency
    • Proficiency in TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Integration and Accessibility
    • Familiarity with integrating the component library into applications using multiple frameworks such as Angular, React, and Vue.
    • Knowledge of WCAG standards and experience in creating accessible components.
  • Development Experience Tooling
    • Experience documenting components using Storybook.
    • Proven history in creating and using development experience tooling to streamline the component development process.
  • Leadership and Mentorship
    • Willingness to mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
