Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Marriott International, Inc. as an Engineer II. This role will be responsible for responding to guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve maintenance issues, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest repair requests and attend to maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Carry equipment, such as tools and radios, to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves for equipment and buildings.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.

Requirements

  • Display proficiency in one of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
  • Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe (including soldering).
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing, electrical equipment, and other guestroom items.
  • Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  • Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and the complete and thorough cleanup of the painting or repair area.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems.
  • Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Display the ability to train and mentor other engineers.
  • Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in a related field, such as mechanical engineering or facilities management, is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in a related field is required.

Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures is required. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods is also required.
