Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Metalworking Buyer to join our team at Alfa Laval. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for providing local sources for manufactured parts, raw materials, equipment, and/or services necessary for our business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement and Supply Process: Identify and develop local suppliers for manufactured parts, raw materials, equipment, and/or services, ensuring compliance with ethical business practices and policies.
  • Supplier Development: Initiate and drive corrective actions regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost with suppliers, conducting business negotiations and contracting according to global frames and conditions.
  • Supplier Management: Secure capacity at regional suppliers, ensure proper supplier selection, and expand and maintain a reliable local supply base in accordance with our sustainability strategy.
  • Support Logistics, Pricing, and Accounting Issues: Provide support to resolve discrepancies within logistics, pricing, and accounting issues within Business Units and local Suppliers.
  • Negotiations and Business: Responsible for deploying regional leverage and support strategies based on relevant market research and analysis, identifying improvements and cost savings opportunities based on purchase-related processes, new technologies, standardization, and efficiency.
  • Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Closely monitor supplier performance, price, quality, and deliveries, acting as a driver on open orders and production schedules between local suppliers and Business Units to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Manufacture Experience and Industrial Knowledge: Possess experience and knowledge of equipment, tools, materials, processes, labor rates, and technical specifications.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate actively with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and local vendors to secure business strategy alignment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field with at least 8 years' experience in sourcing, procurement, and/or supplier development.
  • Manufacture experience in the metalworking industry with proven knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and specifications.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, with a strong business and negotiation acumen.
  • Highly self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize for quick decision-making.
  • High communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence stakeholders within the organization.
  • Proven English skills (C1 or proficiency level) with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Open to frequent travel (40%).
