Job Overview
This Sustaining Product Development Engineer will undertake projects to improve existing products for the Horizontal Blinds Division. The role will focus on quality improvements, cost savings, production launch support, and efficiency. The engineer will work closely with the fabrication plant in Monterrey, Mexico to support all horizontal blind products fabricated in that plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Resource: Lead or support on product improvement projects, utilizing solid modeling systems and mechanical engineering principles.
- Corrective Action: Address urgent and/or chronic design quality issues, applying Root Cause Analysis and Six Sigma Tools.
- Fabrication Liaison: Collaborate with the fabrication plant to ensure smooth production launch support and efficiency.
- Product Redesign and Launch: Manage the redesign and coordinate the launch of product quality improvements, focusing on cost reductions and efficiency.
- Product Support: Provide technical support for existing products, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Experience with solid modeling systems, such as Solidworks, and knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including mechanical dynamics and statics.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of spatial reasoning, Root Cause Analysis, and computer use, including software such as Word, Excel, Project, Minitab, and CAD systems.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with various mechanisms and their applications, including gear systems, clutches, cams, and pulleys.
- Abilities: Ability to analyze cause and effect relationships, synthesize information sources, and work with principles of geometry and physics to calculate design and performance capability.
