We are searching for the best talent for a Strategic Supply Specialist to support category development, sourcing of components, and supplier relationship management for all raw material categories.

The Reporting to a Sourcing Manager, the Strategic Supply Specialist will assist customers in locating and selecting suppliers for purchases per category strategies, negotiate prices, administer contracts, track supplier performance, develop non-strategic suppliers, develop, and improve business processes or category strategies, and support sites as needed.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson procedures and guidelines, this position will be responsible for the following:
  • Know and follow EES policies and procedures related to work activities performed in the area of responsibility.
  • Complete training in the area of responsibility within the allowed time-period.
  • Follow all company safety policies and other safety precautions within the work area.
  • Promote safety to all associates that enter the work area.

**Strategic Supply Specialist Trainee, Assistant & Primary level responsibilities:**

  • Follow J&J and EES Records Management Policies for Convenience Information, Records Retention Schedules, Training and Education, Document Hold Notices, Records Cleanout, Inactive Records, and Information Management, Vital Records, and third-party vendor if applicable.
  • Understand the basic business needs and capabilities for spend categories or business processes.
  • Ensure training on and compliance with relevant company procedures.
  • Seek to improve capabilities of the supplier base or business processes.
  • Report performance data for assigned categories or business processes.
  • Communicate, monitor, and aggressively manage compliance with the sourcing strategy or business process.
  • Establish relationships with other functions (e.g., engineering, operations, marketing, quality) to ensure understanding and support of strategic sourcing perspective to key processes.
  • Track and manage performance of suppliers and ensure that performance issues are quickly addressed.
  • Lead annual productivity improvements with suppliers pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g., lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.).
  • Partner with key stakeholders and partners to address technical issues for components and processes.

**Strategic Supply Specialist responsibilities:**

  • Develop and expertise in the business needs and capabilities for major spend categories or key business processes.
  • Keep up with supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing.
  • Identify sources of data for performance metrics, create a process to collect data, and champion the collection efforts.
  • Champion annual productivity improvements by leading internal & joint supplier / teams pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g., lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.).
  • Contribute to the continuous development of sourcing knowledge base and best practice by identifying and implementing sourcing 'pockets of excellence'.
