LOCATION:
Apply Digital is hybrid/remote-friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in
Latin America
, preferably working in hours that align to
PT (Pacific Timezone) or
ET (Eastern Timezone)
. Candidates located in Santiago, Chile are able to work out of our Santiago office as remote/hybrid employees. Candidates located outside of Santiago, Chile will be fully remote employees.
THE ROLE:**
We are looking for an experienced Senior BackEnd Engineer with expertise in NodeJS to join our team In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and developing robust server-side applications, designing complex data structures, and implementing high-performance database solutions using ORMs like TypeORM or Prisma.

You'll play a crucial role in ensuring scalability, security, and responsiveness of our backend systems. Your expertise will be vital in developing and optimizing APIs, data pipelines, and integrating with frontend applications. Additionally, you'll lead technical decisions, mentor junior and intermediate developers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

If you have exceptional NodeJS programming skills, extensive experience with TypeScript, and a proven track record of developing high-scalable and innovative applications, then you will thrive in this role.

What You'll Do

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using NodeJS and TypeScript.
• Design and implement high-performance, secure RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex data models and efficient database operations using ORMs (TypeORM or Prisma).
• Write high-quality, well-documented, and testable code.
• Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance to the development team.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly frontend developers.
• Drive technical decision-making and architectural designs.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers, fostering their professional growth.
• Play a key role in technical project planning and execution.
• Ensure best practices in security, performance, and code qualityContribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Fluent English is a must.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of experience in NodeJS development, with a focus on backend systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Extensive experience with NodeJS frameworks such as NestJS, Fastify, or Express.
• Strong expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Advanced knowledge of ORMs, particularly TypeORM and Prisma.
• Proficiency in designing and optimizing database schemas and queries.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of software architecture patterns and principles.
• Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with performance monitoring and optimization tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
