Role Overview:

The L1 Database Support Engineer will provide first-level support for Informix database environments, focusing on incident resolution, monitoring, and routine maintenance tasks. This role ensures system stability and performance by addressing alerts, troubleshooting basic issues, and supporting operational activities across multiple environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to
    Informix tickets
    in Workflow Queue.
  2. Perform
    alert monitoring and first-level triage
    using ServiceNow incidents and dashboards.

  3. Execute routine support activities, including:

  4. Basic connectivity and performance troubleshooting.

  5. User account management.
  6. Backup monitoring and service restarts.
  7. Database resource consumption checks, space management, and status verification.
  8. Locking and long-running transaction resolution.
  9. Running routine scripts.
  10. Supporting database upgrades and migrations.
  11. Basic query optimization.
  12. Preparing and implementing change requests (CHG).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with
    Informix database administration
    .
  • Familiarity with
    ServiceNow
    or similar ITSM tools.
  • Basic knowledge of
    performance tuning and query optimization
    .
  • Understanding of
    backup strategies and space management
    .
  • Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and resource issues.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to
    database migration projects
    .
  • Knowledge of
    ITIL processes
    for incident and change management.
  • Experience in
    retail or large-scale enterprise environments
    .
