Who We Are

Founded in 2024, LAFA (Latin America Future Automotive) has a mission to provide better and affordable taxi-riding experience to Latin America, to accelerate EV adoption in the ride-hailing and last-mile delivery industry, first from CDMX. We tackle the biggest barriers to adoption of EV—high costs, limited financing, and range anxiety—while offering maintenance, insurance, and value-added services in an all-in-one solution.

About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional senior accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be hard working, have attention to detail, have a strong desire to take initiative and learn and can communicate well across all levels of a corporate environment.

This is a hybrid role based in our Mexico City (CDMX) office, with a structured blend of in-office and remote work

Future fully remote with occasional travel to CDMXl is possible. 

What You'll Do

  • Manage full-cycle accounting in compliance with Mexican NIF and US GAAP.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, bank reconciliations, revenue and expense records, and fixed assets/depreciation using QuickBooks (and NetSuite in the future).
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings: monthly and annual returns, DIOT, electronic accounting, payroll tax reporting, and SAT compliance.
  • Support management in preparing and analyzing financial statements, budgets, and cash flow reports.
  • Act as the point of contact for external auditors during financial and tax audits, ensuring compliance and timely completion.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for closing, reporting, and automation (real-time dashboards, digital finance tools).
  • Assist with special finance projects, including cost analysis, profitability per unit, and financial forecasting.

What You Bring

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • BA/BBA/BS Degree from 4 year university
  • 3+ years' experience, with financial statement audit experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud based financial software (i.e. Alegria, NetSuite and QuickBooks)
  • Ability to focus, complete tasks accurately and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Must know US GAAP accounting standard; Mexican NIF, and tax compliance (SAT, ISR, VAT, IMSS, INFONAVIT).
  • Must be fluent in English.

  • You must be independently authorized to work in Mexico. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role, at this time. Other locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Annual Pay Range

At LAFA, we want to attract and retain the best employees and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A LAFA employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)

Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprising base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
