Astra, our new AI Agent product, is a spin-off built independently from Wati, with its own roadmap and technology. Astra is designed to help companies automate complex customer interactions, improve efficiency, and deliver human-like conversational experiences using advanced AI.
While Astra is a standalone product, it integrates seamlessly with Wati, allowing customers to elevate their WhatsApp operations with conversational AI.
As we scale Astra across LATAM, we are looking for an Account Manager who will lead the Cross Sell playbook and efforts and become one of the first builders of our Astra go-to-market motion.
About the RoleThis is a high-impact commercial role focused on driving Astra expansion across the region, building scalable cross-sell strategies, and supporting complex negotiations in the Wati customer base.
You will collaborate with regional leadership to design and execute the expansion playbook, become an Astra expert capable of confidently presenting the product, and actively drive results through strategic outreach, consultative selling, and tight alignment with CSMs.
Core Responsibilities- Build the regional expansion and cross-sell strategy for Astra, together with CS and GTM leadership.
- Become a product expert, deeply understanding Astra's and Wati's capabilities, use cases, and integration paths with Wati.
- Lead and execute the entire cross-sell motion: identifying opportunities, engaging customers, pitching Astra, managing the sales cycle, and closing deals.
- Create repeatable and scalable strategies to accelerate Astra adoption across LATAM.
Collaborate closely with CSMs and PMM to map accounts, prioritize opportunities, and drive revenue impact.
Support complex commercial negotiations within the existing Wati customer base.
- Develop scalable upgrade strategies for 1:many portfolios, ensuring customers grow into higher plans as their needs evolve.
- Partner with CSMs to streamline the handoff between CSM and commercial conversations.
- Identify expansion signals and convert them into structured upgrade motions.
- Maintain accurate expansion forecasting and pipeline hygiene.
- Track performance, create visibility of Astra opportunities, and deliver clear reporting to leadership.
Ensure CRM documentation reflects up-to-date status of every deal and account action.
Requirements
- Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
- 3+ years in SaaS as Account Manager, CSM, or AE with strong commercial responsibilities.
- Experience with WhatsApp Business API or messaging-based use cases.
- Proven experience closing renewals, upsells, or cross-sell deals.
- Strong familiarity with AI products, automation, or conversational platforms.
- Ability to craft strategy and execute hands-on — builder mindset.
- Skilled in value-based selling and navigating complex customer conversations.
- Understanding of LATAM enterprise customer expectations and cultural dynamics.
- Experience selling AI solutions or digital agents.
- Astra revenue in LATAM.
- Adoption rate and cross-sell penetration across customer segments.
- Net Revenue Retention (NRR).
- Forecast accuracy and CRM data quality.
