Purpose of Role

The School Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic school environment that supports student learning, staff wellbeing, and overall school operations. This role ensures that classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas meet health, safety, and safeguarding standards

ISP Cleaner Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas daily.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors as required.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as desks, door handles, railings, and equipment.
• Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly.
• Restock cleaning and hygiene supplies in assigned areas.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and institutional procedures.
• Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the Facilities or Operations team.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to guidelines.
• Support cleaning needs during school events or special activities.
• Maintain storage areas for cleaning supplies in a clean and organized manner.
• Comply with health, safety, and safeguarding policies at all times.
• Work respectfully around students, staff, and visitors.
• Follow institutional policies, child safeguarding procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Attention to detail and cleanliness.

• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques and equipment.

Qualifications

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning products, tools, and safety practices.
• Health and safety training is an advantage.

Experience

• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred.
• Experience in a school, childcare, healthcare, or similar environment is an advantage.
• Familiarity with hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Experience working in environments with children is desirable.
