T he Brakes D&R Enginee r is responsible for delivery of actuation brake systems and components. Responsibilities include lead design, develop, validate, release, and implement brakes hardware parts under their responsibility (Brake tubes, pedal box, jounce hoses & wheel speed sensors); in addition to interface with Brake Controls Hardware & Software teams and Fix Brakes team to deliver overall Brakes System performance for the assigned vehicle programs. The D&R engineer is responsible to design parts that comply with Corporate and Legal Requirements. The D&R signoffs compliance to Engineering Requirements, ES (Engineering Specifications) and DR (Design Rules) as well as the Manufacturing, Assembly and Service requirements. The engineer is also responsible of parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Related degree.

  • High English proficiency (reading, writing and speaking)

  • Experience in functional engineering desirable, preferably Chassis or Automotive related work experience (Ford, OEM, supplier)

  • Strong leadership skills – Inherent self-starter, self-motivated with strong drive for results

  • Project management skills – Capable of managing projects by looking both at the big picture objectives and at detail administration to achieve these objectives.

  • Excellent math, science, technology and IT skills, able to work in unfamiliar and unstructured situations and succeed

  • The ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions

  • The ability to explain design ideas clearly and strong decision-making skills

  • Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution and management reviews

  • Excellent team working and people skills

  • A comprehensive understanding of Brakes Subsystems Design Specifications

  • Computer- literate:

o Proficiency in MS-Office/Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint

o 3D CAD software tools exposure (Catia / Teamcenter, Vismock up)

o Desirable: CAE structural basic knowledge

  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering disciplines preferred: DVP&R, DFMEA, 8D, NVH, Process Controls, GD&T, Reliability and System Engineering Fundamentals

  • Problem Solving: DMAIC/DFSS/Robustness Tools working experience

  • Ability to travel and support Ford Motor Company final assembly plants and supplier sites, when required during project delivery; many of them located in Unites States where international travel and B1/B2 or TN Visa would be required

-Availability to work in a hybrid scheme

  3. The Brakes Engineer leads components and system design and development, validating and signing off all key brake performance and attribute requirements.

  4. The Brakes Engineer leads vehicle tests, bench tests for specific functions.

  5. Working with brake development engineers for refining functional characteristics of the brake components, system, features and the vehicle .

  6. The engineer manages supplier delivery and performance.

  7. Serve as a leader and representative of brake engineering to interfacing organizations.
