Job Description:
Suplari is seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join us as a remote position in the US or in Guadalajara, Mexico.

As an engineer on the Suplari team, you will design, build, and operate cloud native, data pipelines and data lakes. You will implement feature extraction, transformations, data cleansing and normalization procedures and integrate with data science and machine learning algorithms to drive valuable insights into our customer datasets. You will also work directly with the Customer Success team and customers to hear their requirements for new insights that will help them with key business initiatives.

You will use modern data platforms and technologies including Python, Elastic Search, PostgreSQL, Spark, Tensorflow and many others.  We are looking for passionate engineers that want to be part of a company that's going to change the way enterprise businesses interact with their suppliers.

Qualifications

What you'll be doing:
  • While you don't need to have experience in every technology we use, as a startup, we do expect you to be comfortable contributing anywhere throughout the stack. Here are some of the heavy-hitters that we rely on daily: Python, Javascript, Excel, RESTful web services, OData, PostgreSQL and Go
  • Collaborate directly with customers to gather data requirements and implement data transformation, normalization and categorization processes.
  • Work with product management, and customer success teams to understand data requirements.
  • Apply statistical analysis & modeling techniques to datasets large and small, advance existing initiatives and open opportunities to pursue new and previously unexplored research topics across a wide variety of industries and domains
  • Operate and extend the data science platform to deliver production-grade data curation and analysis services
  • Own end-to-end data workflows and develop deep domain expertise on the underlying actors and behaviors manifested through data
  • Visualize and explore data sets to enable the ideation and generation of new, predictive feature
  • Work with other cloud service engineers as well as web application developers to build the Suplari platform and application suite. 
  • Mentor more junior level data engineers and provide direct feedback in a constructive way.
     
 What to bring:
  • Expertise in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with data curation and analysis leveraging Python modules including: pandas, numpy and scipy.
  • Experience in text processing toolkits such as NLTK or Stanford-NLP.
  • Hands on experience with tools such as Github, JIRA, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Elastic stack and code pipeline.
  • AWS experience including multi-tenant architecture for enterprises, VPC, RDS, EC2, AMI's, Route53, infrastructure as code such as Terraform, Docker and build management.
  • Experience with creating & maintaining training datasets for ML algorithms.
  • Enthusiasm for tackling big data challenges.
  • Experience working with large, semi-structured datasets like legal documents, application logs, and product invoices.
  • Rigor in automated testing, continuous integration, DevOps and other engineering best practices.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  • Agile enough to jump into a broad range of projects.
  • Proficient written and spoken English language skills
 Education/Training:
  • BS or MS in computer science
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Data Engineering or Data Scientist role
