ISP Maintenance Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and cleanliness of the school's facilities and equipment. This role supports a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors by performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with institutional standards.

ISP Maintanance Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on school buildings, classrooms, offices, restrooms, playgrounds, and common areas.
  • Carry out basic repairs in electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance.
  • Ensure school facilities meet health, safety, and safeguarding standards at all times.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from teachers, administrators, and staff.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of classrooms and school events.
  • Inspect school equipment, furniture, and facilities to identify repair or safety needs.
  • Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and storage areas in an organized and safe condition.
  • Report hazards, damages, or safety concerns to the Facilities Administrator or School Leadership.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory of maintenance supplies and request replacements when needed.
  • Collaborate with cleaning, security, and facilities teams to ensure smooth daily school operations.
  • Follow institutional policies, child safeguarding procedures, and health and safety regulations.

  • Basic technical skills in electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Service-oriented and proactive attitude.

Qualifications

  • Technical training or vocational studies in maintenance, mechanics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures.
  • Safety training or certifications are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in facilities administration or building management.
  • Experience in an educational, corporate, or service-oriented environment preferred.
  • Proven experience managing vendors, maintenance teams, and service contracts.
  • Experience handling budgets and operational planning.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and regulatory compliance standards.
