About the Role:

The Benefits Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and administering employee benefits programs, ensuring that all employees have access to the resources they need for their well-being. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations regarding benefits, including the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The specialist will work closely with employees to address their inquiries and concerns regarding benefits, fostering a supportive environment. Additionally, the role involves analyzing benefits data to identify trends and recommend improvements to existing programs. Ultimately, the Benefits Specialist contributes to the overall employee experience by ensuring that benefits are effectively communicated and administered.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in benefits administration or a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Employee Benefits or a related area.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar HRIS systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, long-term disability, and workers' compensation claims.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to employee benefits, including FMLA and ADA.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to benefits administration and employee eligibility.
  • Analyze benefits data to identify trends and recommend enhancements to existing benefits programs.

The required skills are essential for the daily operations of the Benefits Specialist role. Proficiency in benefits administration ensures that all programs are managed effectively and in compliance with regulations. Maintaining confidentiality is critical when handling sensitive employee information, fostering trust and security. Knowledge of long-term disability and workers' compensation claims allows the specialist to provide accurate guidance to employees navigating these processes. Additionally, familiarity with HRIS systems like PeopleSoft streamlines the administration of benefits, making it easier to track and analyze data for continuous improvement.
