Platform Application Engineer

Position Summary

The Platform Application Engineer will design, build, and maintain backend services using Elixir and the Phoenix Framework. This role supports a mobile-first product strategy by delivering scalable APIs and services while contributing to frontend development as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend services using Elixir, Phoenix, and Ecto

Design and support GraphQL APIs using Absinthe

Build scalable services to support mobile and web applications

Model and optimize data using Postgres

Collaborate with frontend engineers using React and TypeScript

Review, refactor, and improve existing backend code

Participate in architecture planning and roadmap development

Deploy and support services in AWS environments

Contribute to frontend development when needed

Required Qualifications

Strong professional experience with Elixir and Phoenix

Experience building APIs using GraphQL (Absinthe)

Strong SQL skills, preferably with Postgres

Working knowledge of React and TypeScript

Experience working in AWS environments

Ability to contribute across the full stack

Strong debugging and system design skills

Preferred Skills

Experience with Phoenix LiveView

Familiarity with Capacitor and mobile development

Experience scaling production systems

Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills

Background supporting mobile-first platforms
