Sr Staff SW Safety Engineer /Technical SW Safety Expert

Role overview: As a Safety SW engineer you will develop, integrate, customize and validate Safety L3 software components from Schaeffler's portfolio into electronic products from the NA region; analyze, review and support in requirements elicitation and quotations on safety topics. The Safety SW engineer will work closely with Functional Safety Managers, Functional Safety design engineers, Functional safety product owners, BSW integrators, HW engineers and systems engineers to achieve high quality products in line with internal and external requirements.

Your Responsibilities

Safety L3 SW responsible of:

  • Requirements analysis and elicitation.
  • Development and Integration of safety products from SAG's portfolio (Ecu and microcontroller monitoring, Watchdog manager, safety communication components, etc) into electronic products.
  • Validation against customer and internal requirements.
  • Customization of products to match customer requirements diverging from generic products.
  • Implementation of project specific Switch Off Path Check.
  • Develop and Review work products in accordance to ISO-26262 and internal standards.
  • Support diagnosis and debugging during product life cycle.
  • Maintain software project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive systems engineering or equivalent embedded system design, particularly in electronic control units (ECUs).
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in requirements management, design, development and testing of automotive software products.
  • Strong embedded C knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge in Microcontrollers and Safety implementation.
  • Proficiency with automotive software development tools such as Vector DaVinci, Tessy, IMS, DOORS, Polarion, Trace32. Or similar.
  • Solid understanding of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) standards and their application.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive coding guidelines and software development procedures.
  • Well versed with ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in hardware and software debugging techniques.
