Job Title: Payroll SME Process Lead – Especialista en Nominas

Location: Mexico City

Department: Payroll

This role will be processing Payroll for several Countries working on as Subject Matter Expert Payroll.

Mandatory:

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience:Minimum of 5+ years of experience in payroll management, with a strong preference for experience within the USA and Canada.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll processes and regulations in the region
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English is required; proficiency in multiple languages are highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in payroll management or related fields

Key responsibilities:

1. End-to-End Payroll Execution

  • Own and execute the full payroll cycle from data collection to final lodgement across assigned countries or regions
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with statutory regulations and company policies
  • Validate payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, benefits, bonuses, and time & attendance data
  • Perform Gross-to-Net (GTN) calculations and reconcile payroll outputs prior to approval

  • Vendor & Platform Coordination

  • Act as primary liaison with payroll vendors (e.g., Neeyamo) to ensure service delivery and issue resolution

  • Review vendor documentation and system configurations to ensure alignment with local requirements and best practices
  • Submit validated inputs via payroll platform and monitor processing timelines
  • Track payroll provider performance on both timelines (adherence to the calendar), quality (input correctly processed and compliant payroll calculations), communication (proactive in communicating issues and solution oriented)

  • Testing, Cutover & Go-Live Support

  • Support development and execution of test scripts for payroll functionality during system implementations or changes

  • Participate in parallel run planning, data validation, and cutover activities to ensure smooth go-live transitions
  • Validate data conversion accuracy and support readiness checks for new payroll cycles

  • Approval & Lodgement

  • Review payroll GTN reports and prepare spot-check checklists for regional approval

  • Coordinate final payroll approval and initiate funding processes with Finance
  • Upload final payroll reports and ensure successful lodgement with statutory authorities and financial systems

  • Post-Payroll & Audit Support

  • Reconcile payroll accounts and support post-payroll activities including journal entries and financial reporting

  • Maintain and update SOX controls and documentation to support internal and external audits
  • Ensure payroll records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Confidentiality, maintain secured communication and protection of PII

  • Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance

  • Address and resolve employee payroll queries and escalations in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide subject matter expertise on local and regional payroll nuances and contribute to process improvement initiatives

  • Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and enhance operational efficiency

  • Stay updated on changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Support documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials
