YOUR ROLE
In your daily job you will:
Be responsible for acquiring knowledge of an internally developed system built on PHP, Linux, Apache, and MariaDB. The role includes setting up, maintaining, and improving the system within our division. The specialist will ensure smooth operation, implement enhancements, and manage custom branching strategies to support future separation of codebases.
Key responsibilities
- Knowledge Transfer & Documentation
- Collaborate with the originating division to understand system architecture, workflows, and dependencies.
- Create comprehensive documentation for installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- System Setup & Maintenance
- Deploy and configure the system on Linux servers (on-prem or cloud).
- Manage Apache web server and MariaDB database performance and security.
- Monitor system health and apply patches or updates as needed.
- Development & Customization
- Implement changes and improvements using PHP and Linux scripting.
- Manage version control and branching strategies (Git-based) for custom development. Ensure compatibility and scalability for future business needs.
- Security & Compliance
- Apply best practices for Linux hardening, database security, and application security.
- Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and data protection standards.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (IT, operations, and business units).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for system-related issues.
YOUR BACKGROUND
Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Business English, both spoken and written
- Strong experience with PHP, Linux administration, Apache, and MariaDB/MySQL.
- Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and automation tools.
- Familiarity with Git and branching strategies for collaborative development
- Understanding of web application security and performance optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (preferred).
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or similar) is a plus.
