Your opportunity:
- This is not a local role. As Legal Manager – LATAM, you will be based in Mexico City but your mandate will cover all of Belvo's operations across the region (Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and the US corporate structure).
- You will:
- Oversee legal operations in Mexico while coordinating regional legal support across Brazil, Spain, and the US.
- Act as the go-to legal partner for LATAM, ensuring our fintech and payments activities are fully aligned with local regulations and global best practices.
- Negotiate and close high-value, enterprise-level contracts with financial institutions and large corporates across the region.
- Partner with the executive team to define and execute Belvo's regulatory strategy for Latin America, and build trusted relationships with regulators and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Provide pragmatic legal advice to cross-functional teams (sales, product, finance, compliance), enabling fast, compliant, and scalable decision-making.
- Mentor and manage legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and business-oriented culture in the legal team.
- Oversee corporate governance, entities, and compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support M&A, fundraising, and strategic partnership initiatives with solid legal and regulatory guidance.
This position may be for you if:
- You are based in Mexico City (mandatory) and want to own a regional LATAM scope.
- You bring 4–5+ years of experience managing legal teams in financial institutions, fintechs, or payments companies.
- You have deep knowledge of Mexican regulatory frameworks for financial services, open finance, and payments.
- You are experienced in complex, cross-border contract negotiations with large enterprises and financial institutions.
- You are fluent in English (mandatory), able to work daily with global teams.
- You are comfortable working in dynamic environments and balancing ambiguity with execution.
- You are a structured thinker with excellent communication skills, capable of distilling complexity into actionable guidance.
Amazing if:
- You have previous experience supporting Brazilian operations and understand the dynamics of open finance in that market.
- You are fluent or conversational in Portuguese.
- You've worked directly with founders and executive teams in scaling fintech or SaaS companies.
- You have experience with international corporate structures (Delaware, Cayman, Spain, etc.) and cross-border governance.
