Position Overview

The Docket Clerk supports the Data Breach & Privacy team by performing docket searches, confirming whether lawsuits have been filed, and monitoring case activity across multiple jurisdictions. The role also includes reviewing cases and relevant databases to identify potential new leads and emerging matters. This position is responsible for tracking litigation and settlement developments, and ensuring attorneys receive timely, accurate updates on new filings/viable leads, case progress, and settlement activity within the data breach/privacy field.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily searches across federal, state, and county portals to identify new data breach filings, confirm whether lawsuits have been filed for specific incidents, and capture essential case details (case number, parties, filing date, venue, judge, available pleadings).
  • Monitor active cases of interest (including MDLs, class actions, and major single-event cases) for new filings, orders, deadlines, and hearings.
  • Download, organize, and summarize relevant complaints, orders, docket sheets, notices, and settlement documents.
  • Maintain internal databases reflecting current case status, procedural developments, class certification activity, dispositive motions, trial dates, and settlement progress.
  • Flag and escalate significant updates (e.g., rulings, consolidations, transfers) to attorneys or case managers.
  • Monitor public settlement portals, court filings, and regulatory notices for new information and potential case leads.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or litigation support professional, ideally with docket research or class action experience
  • Strong legal research skills and the ability to interpret docket activity and procedural developments (including familiarity with PACER, state court portals, and basic class action procedures)
  • Excellent organization, accuracy, and time-management, especially when handling high-volume trackers, databases, and documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel/Google Sheets) and comfort working with/maintaining internal databases.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize key updates and flag important developments.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving workflows.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $ $220.00 per hour
