Principal Engineer, SAP BW

The Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data warehousing and business intelligence solutions within the SAP Business Warehouse (BW) environment and other Analytic tools such Alteryx. They are expected to have a strong understanding of data modeling, extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. The Engineer will work closely with business users, IT teams, and other stakeholders to identify reporting and analytics requirements, as well as to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

• Design, develop, implement and maintain data models within SAP BW 7.x
• Develop, test, and optimize extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to extract data from various SAP and non-SAP sources
• Implement and support BW queries, reports, and dashboards using SAP Business Explorer (BEx) tools and other front-end reporting tools, such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Tableau and Power BI
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity by implementing and maintaining robust data validation and reconciliation processes.
• Well versed in project management Lifecyle from requirements gathering, implementation, testing, documentation to long term support
• Document system configurations, data models, ETL processes, and reporting solutions
• Collaboration with business stakeholders, Business Relationship Managers within IT and other IT members on complex business requirements
• Provides consulting in support of business during M&A's and project on Celanese data standard
• Monitor and troubleshoot SAP BW system performance, implementing optimizations and tuning as needed
• Maintains compliance with Audit controls, SOX controls, internal policies and business requirements
• Collaborate with the SAP Basis team to apply patches, updates, and other system maintenance activities as required

• Bachelor degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field
• SAP BW: Deep understanding of SAP BW data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting tools such as InfoCubes, DataStore Objects (DSO), MultiProviders, and CompositeProvider.
• SAP Business Explorer (BEx): Proficiency in designing and developing queries, reports, and dashboards using BEx Query Designer, BEx Analyzer, and BEx Web Application Designer
• SAP HANA: Experience with SAP HANA data modeling, including calculation views, attribute views, and analytical views, as well as integration with SAP BW
• ABAP programming: Experience with ABAP coding, debugging, and performance optimization, particularly in the context of SAP BW data extraction and transformation processes
• SQL: Proficiency in writing SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis
• Data integration: Experience with data integration tools and techniques, such as SAP Data Services, SAP Landscape Transformation (SLT), or other ETL tools
• Data visualization tools: Familiarity with other front-end reporting and data visualization tools, such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Tableau, or Power BI
• Performance optimization: Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques in SAP BW and HANA environments, including indexing, partitioning, and aggregations
• Data preprocessing: Experience with data cleaning and preprocessing techniques, including handling missing values, outliers, and data transformation.
• SAP Basis: Basic understanding of SAP Basis concepts, such as system administration, transport management, and applying patches and updates
• Alteryx: Proficiency in using Alteryx Designer for data preparation, blending, and transformation, as well as creating custom workflows and analytic applications. Experience with Alteryx Server for deploying and managing analytic solutions is also beneficial.
