Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

The Buyer is responsible for executing the strategies created by a Purchasing Manager.  This may include planning the purchasing and scheduling of materials, services, and supplies, but normally does not include sourcing or negotiation with vendors.  

Centralized Purchasing Focus: 

This Buyer may be responsible for the process of purchasing of equipment, materials, supplies and services through the centralized Purchasing Function.  This incumbent will usually execute the work established by a Corporate Purchasing Manager.

Plant (Operations) Purchasing Focus: 

This Buyer may be responsible for the process of purchasing raw materials, supplies and services for a manufacturing function.  This incumbent will usually execute the work established by the Divisional or manufacturing-focused Purchasing Manager.  In some businesses, this position's duties may overlap with responsibilities in the Materials Management area which schedules raw materials in a manufacturing setting.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Seek for vendor alternatives in the market guaranteeing the best cost, payment terms and service.
  • Define the best procurement strategy together with category main users.
  • Develop and analyze spend reports.
  • Define risks/opportunities in your categories.
  • Create and maintain vendors in systems.
  • Avoid vendor blocked accounts.
  • Benchmark with other AD divisions.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 - 5 years prior buying, procurement experience.
  • Well experience in purchasing techniques and strategies.
  • Well experience in assisting manager and category users in vendor selection and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. English and Spanish.
  • Strong customer service skills and purchasing/persuasion skills.
  • Ariba experience is desirable.
