Physical Design Engineer

Location:
Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Physical Design Engineer to join our design group in Tijuana. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation of critical high-performance IPs, including
high-speed DDR, USB, PCIe, PLLs
, and complex
Mixed-Signal (Digital/Analog)
designs. You will leverage your expertise in nanometer technologies to ensure high-quality, timely silicon releases while overcoming the unique challenges of modern semiconductor design.

Technical Requirements

  • Experience:
    A minimum of 5 years in physical design engineering with a track record of
    successful Tapeouts
    in Nanometer Technologies.

Full RTL-to-GDS Flow Mastery:

  • Planning:
    Expertise in Floor-planning and Power Design Networks (PDN) planning.
  • Implementation:
    Proficiency in automatic and custom placement, pre-routing, and Place & Route (P&R).
  • Power Management:
    Deep understanding of multi-voltage power domains.
  • Clocking:
    Expertise in Clock Tree Synthesis (CTS) and customization.
  • Timing & Verification:
  • Strong grasp of
    Static Timing Analysis (STA)
    , including timing constraints and violation fixing.
  • In-depth knowledge of
    Physical Verification
    : DRC, LVS, ERC, and DFM.

EDA Tools:
Advanced experience with industry-leading tools:

  • Cadence
    (Innovus;
    Virtuoso
    is a strong plus).
  • Synopsys
    (ICC2, PrimeTime).
  • Mentor
    or
    Ansys
    .

Programming & Scripting:
Working knowledge of
Python, TCL, or Perl
for flow automation. Familiarity with C++, Verilog/VHDL, and Unix/Linux environments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related Science/Engineering field.
  • Core Experience:
    1+ years of specific experience in ASIC design, verification, or related work.
  • Communication:
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for technical reporting and team collaboration.
